She taught in elementary schools in Wisconsin including six years as principal and teacher at St. Bernards School, Watertown, Wisconsin. The Sisters of Saint Francis of Rochester, Minnesota, a Roman Catholic congregation for women religious, was founded in 1877 by Mother Mary Alfred Moes. She entered St. Agnes Convent in 1956 and made her profession of vows in the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes on August 15, 1958, as Sister Mary Lee. Over the years Sister enriched her life through various courses, receiving certificates in Dietary Administration for Food Service Managers, St. Louis University; Church and Sacraments, Marian College of Fond du Lac; Spiritual Development Program, School of Spirituality, Yonkers; and Ministry with Older Adults, Marymount Manhattan College, New York City. She taught academic courses, gave private lessons, and organized a symphonic orchestra, a wind ensemble, and a triple string trio, all of which performed often during the academic year.
